While the BIPOC in Animal Well-Being Collective (BIPOC AWC) exists for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, allies can support us and our work by:
Spreading the word about the group to BIPOC colleagues/staff
Working to be better informed through introspection and available resources
Amplifying and hiring BIPOC voices within your organization and community
Donating to the Collective to foster continued growth of the group
One of the most courageous steps you can take is to reflect on yourself- your words, actions, and how they may uphold the racist systems we’ve been taught.
What do you need to unlearn?
How do you actively support an equitable and just society?
What does it mean to be an ally versus an accomplice?
Knowing where to start can feel overwhelming but taking the first step matters.
